With a fresh coat of primer the tumble shaft is in place under the boiler


Hanging the Tumble Shaft

The tumble shaft connects the valve mechanisms on each side of the locomotive and ensures that they work together. We have trued up the surface where the shaft rides in the pedestals, cast and machined a new pedestal cap to replace a missing one, machined new tapered bolts and today we placed the shaft is in its rightful place.
