New Sleeves for Flexible Staybolts
A special jig is used to position the new staybolt sleeve prior to tack welding it in place.

New Sleeves for Flexible Staybolts

Saturday, April 9, 2011 by MC

New sleeves are required for the flexible staybolts on the portions of the boiler that were repaired. A special jig was made to enable the new sleeve to be held in position perpendicular to the boiler while it is tacked in place (see row above the tool). Finally the sleeve is welded in place (see top row).
