Building Superheater Tube Clusters
Partially completed superheater tube clusters stored temporarily in the flues.

Building Superheater Tube Clusters

Thursday, August 8, 2024 by MC

The superheater tubes are clustered withing each flue and each group must be fabricated for the specific location where it will reside. In order to ensure the bends would be correct, and fittings align, each pair of tubes was clamped up to the manifold and tube and end fitting tacked on before pulling them out for final welding. The stacked pre-bent tubes awaiting fitting made an interesting picture.
