Building Superheater Tube Clusters
Jim is building clusters of superheater tubes so they can be welded in proper alignment to fit within the flues. The plywood disks help position the tubes within each flue.

The superheater tubes sit inside the flues in clusters of 4 - thus the raw steam makes 4 passes in the flue between the firebox and the smokebox to heat it and increase its latent energy before being sent to the pistons.
